Senior Network Engineer

Job Description

Global Network Services (GNS) delivers value added products and services to meet business demand for the following disciplines: Global Data & Global Voice Networks, Desktop Support for Latin America and Canada, and Consumables (i.e., Blackberry's, Cell Phones, and Pagers).

This position focuses on working with a team of senior engineers to engineer and evaluate firewall services for use within the global enterprise network.  The team is responsible for all Network Services including firewalls, load balancers, proxies, remote access, and DNS.

The Sr. Engineer will be responsible for the analysis of the organization's business needs and the related design, implementation, and maintenance of the network infrastructure to support those business needs.  Must be able to create network plans, ensure technology interoperability, document existing and proposed network infrastructure, maintain relationships with technical solution providers, and provide fourth tier troubleshooting/support.

This includes recommending hardware and software to meet the organization's IT needs, as well as managing the roll-out of new equipment and systems, and ensuring that corrective and preventative measures are performed on existing equipment and systems.  Lab evaluation of the selected platforms and design will require the individual to develop a test strategy and tools.

A solid understanding of available network operating systems, network equipment, and networking protocols is essential.  The individual must be experienced in large enterprise or service provider network architecture, analysis, and engineering design.

Requires an understanding of the networking needs of the organization as a whole and the ability to present a vantage point on the best infrastructure solutions. Strong interpersonal skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and add value as a team member.
  • Experience designing and implementing network security solutions for large enterprises.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience required with Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience preferred in the following areas:
  • IP Routing, Ethernet Switching, VPN's, Security, QoS, Remote/Local Access, IBM SNA, Multi-Service (Voice and Video), Campus/MAN, WAN, Optical Networking, IP Services (DNS, Web Proxy, Socks), Multicast, geographic and/or local server load balancing, Unix OS, Windows NT/2K/2K03.
  • 5+ years-related experience.
  • BS/BA (EE/CS) a plus.
  • Cisco CCIE and Checkpoint CCSE certifications desired.

Virtualization Engineer,

Client Technology Services

Job Description

Client Technology Services (CTS) delivers measurable business value by providing core desktop technology solutions that meet business demand while realizing cost efficiencies. CTS works with our Line of Business partners to develop standardized, resilient operating environments and implement a global technology strategy for the firm's 183,000 workstations and 40,000+ remote access users.

Client Technology Engineering and Execution within CTS is responsible to engineer all virtualized desktop solutions for the firm.  By the end of 2010, this organization will be responsible for implementing a large-scale, global rollout of VDI technology.  In the role of Virtualization Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, testing, and documenting integration of multiple technologies that provide solutions within various virtualized platforms utilized at JPMC.  You will  work with VMmware, Citrix, Microsoft, Sun and other leading virtualized technologies, from hypervisors to management tools.

In this role, you will be responsible for engineering solutions that meet the virtualized platforms.  You will work with with architects, operations and support teams to ensure proper implementations.  Approximately 70% of your focus will be on projects; 30% on support and escalation of current products.  You will be responsible for 3rd level support of  Unix  / Solaris  running Sun Ray Server (SRSS) and Sun's SGD applications / services.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in capacity planning, systems performance analysis and optimization in a distributed client/server environment.
  • Technical problem-solving skills
  • Broad knowledge of various technology architectures and business platforms
  • Systems planning and engineering skills
  • Engineering experience is required.
  • Technical background in virtualized technologies: VMware, Citrix (XenApp and XenDesktop);  Sun (SRS and SGD)
  • Excellent Linux / Unix / Solaris background is required
  • Good communication - verbal and written - skills are required.
  • Financial industry support experience is ideal but not required.
